The Opera House in Manchester hosts touring musicals, ballet and concerts. It is a Grade II listed building and is a major theatre in the city. It is run by the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG).
The theatre opened in 1912 and took its current name in 1920 when it was bought by United Theatres Ltd. In 1979 after a steady decline the theatre closed for five years and the site was used as a bingo hall. The Palace Trust acquired it in 1984 and returned it to being a theatre. The theatre was last redecorated in March 2011 keeping the green and gold colour scheme of the original auditorium unchanged.
