Deep in the heart of south-east London, Brixton Academy is an award-winning concert venue hosting live music, club nights, comedy shows and more. Famous for having Europe’s largest fixed stage, a sloping standing floor, distinctive 140ft dome and Art Deco interior, for musicians, it is a ‘must play’ venue. The Academy used to be called the Astoria then a club called Sundown. In 1983 Simon Parkes bought and transformed the site, opening it in October that year as the Brixton Academy. Kings of Leon, Amy Winehouse, The Clash, Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Kasabian, Florence and the Machine, The Strokes, Blur, Coldplay… have all played here. This is the coolest venue for live music in London.
