The Sheffield Arena was built in 1991 and opened by Her Majesty The Queen when opening the World Student Games. It has a 13,600 capacity for concerts. The Arena is not only used for concerts but is also the home venue for the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team and hosts many international events such as boxing and darts.
Oasis played their first ever Arena gig at the Arena back in 1995 and Eddie Izzard played the first ever comedy show there in 2003. Another highlight before the major refurbishment of 2013 was when Tina Turner played her final ever Arena show there in May 2009.
After it’s refurbishment it hosted one of the most popular shows ever to be held at the arena when the Arctic Monkeys played in their hometown. This broke the ticket sales record previously held by Pulp.
It continues to be a regular on the UK tour circuit of many international bands.
Please visit the venue’s website for up-to-date travel and facilities information.
