The Lowry is a theatre and gallery complex located in the Salford Quays area of Greater Manchester. It is named after L. S. Lowry who was renowned for his paintings of industrial scenes in North West England. It was earmarked as a major piece in the regeneration jigsaw planned for the area in the early nineties. It took almost ten years to complete at an estimated cost of £105 million.
